light-up revolution
When sun sets there are millions of Indians who even today use kerosene lamps to light-up their homes. These people have never been connected to the electricity grids either because the electricity lines haven't reached them or they are not able to afford the electricity connection. Though government data shows India is 100% electrified, one must get a closer look at how the parameters are considered. Even if 10% of a village is electrified then its considered to be connected to grid. In most of the cases the Village Panchayath Office and nearby houses are given connections and the village is declared as electrified. Hence even today YUVA's initiative "Light-up Revolution" is able to find villages that live on kerosene lamps at night and is able to reach out to them to equip them with clean lighting solutions.

The start ....
The journey of Light-up revolution started in Krishnanagara, Puttur taluk, DK dist of Karnataka where two houses were lit up. The money for the equipment was raised by Manish Kumar and installation was done by Chethan, Late. Gangadhar and Akhil. Never was it thought through then that someday this project will shape into something as beautiful as YUVA ! We want to show the pics and tell the story. Kindly click on the link ...
